Bots

The online gaming world – both gambling and skill based – is replete with various forms of cheating and performance-enhancing agents. Among the more common are Bots. Small pieces of software robots; automating many game play elements, and at times even all of them.

The online gambling community features several prominent types of Bots, in both Player-to-Player games like Texas Hold’em Poker and games again the House like Blackjack;

  • Calculator based bots:
    These are mostly generic, dumb bots that facilitate a connection between a game client and an existing Odds Calculator for the given game.
  • Away From Keyboard (AFK) bots:
    These are attempted smart bots, capable of reading and calculating current information from a game client and performing relevant actions back within or to the client. All on their own.
    These can be used to either play during the off times, when the player is unable to play himself, or – if smart enough – play constantly instead of the player. Faster, smarter and more accurate.
  • Bonus bots:
    These are a variation of the AFK bot mentioned above. Naturally, such bots are less concerned with playing smart, than they are with playing at low losses while playing [long] enough to receive bonuses, for example – the House bonus for time played.
    The ultimate goal of such a bot is to simply get the cash bonuses, while avoiding losses that exceed those bonuses. Averaging out at an overall profit.
  • Collusion bots:
    This family of bots, comprise of one master bot and several slave bots playing on the same table, is created with the specific goal of sharing information between the slaves and master. Literally receiving the most and best possible information on participating hands on the table, in order to evaluate the best possible course of action to be taken by one of the slaves.
    These bots would usually perform with more confidence, given a higher number of the colluding members than the non colluding players on the table.
